| Fire appliance blowout | Fully laden Sabre type B water tender, controlled blowout at 60 mph (97 km/h). Remained controllable through a tight course with no corrective action by the driver. | Multiband |
| Police van blowout | Double front blowout with 11 officers on board. Full control maintained, no damage to either wheel rim. | Multiband |
| Why results vary | Results depend on speed, weight, tyre aspect ratio, age and make, road conditions, cause of deflation, ambient temperature and another major factor, the suspension. Tyron recommends buyers test on their own vehicles. | All systems |

Standards
| Item | Result | System |
|---|---|---|
| Finabel 20.A.5 and A.20.A | Military standards requiring a guaranteed minimum runflat distance of 50 km, preferably 75 km, and a minimum of two hours off-road over hills and obstacles with two tyres deflated. The tyre may not slip more than one revolution during the off-road test. | Reference standard for the ATR |
| Finabel ballistic requirement | Five 7.62 mm rounds through the sidewall and two into the tread. | Reference standard for the ATR |
| Finabel compliance | Beadlock enabling the vehicle to keep moving at speed in full compliance with on-road and off-road Finabel standards. Compatible with CTIS and standard wheels. | ATR-MP (Ridgback and Mastiff assemblies) |
| Wheel standard | All Tyron-supplied wheels are manufactured and tested to a minimum of SAE J1992. | Tyron wheels |
Ballistic and beadlock
| Item | Result | System |
|---|---|---|
| Ballistic test | 35 rounds of 7.62 mm, 20 through the sidewall and 15 into the tread, against the 7 the Finabel test asks for. Direct hits on the fixings ricocheted off or passed through without structural damage. | ATR |
| Ballistic design intent | Tested ballistically and for endurance to show the vehicle can keep moving for more than 100 km at speed. | ATR |
| Beadlock wheels | R4 forged and cast, R6 and R7 wheels provide beadlock to the Finabel standards when an ATR is fitted. | R4, R6, R7 |
| R4 double beadlock | Double beadlock with the All Terrain Rubber runflat: evasive driving with two or more tyres shot out, and a minimum of 50 km at 50 km/h. | R4 with ATR |
| Beadlock by design | Rubber runflats are made wider than nominal to absorb wheel and tyre tolerances, compressing the tyre beads against the wheel flanges. Clamping force is kept regardless of tyre make. | ATR, ATR-Beadlock |
| Five guarantees | The runflat cannot move on the wheel. The tyre cannot slip on the wheel. Sand, dirt and mud cannot enter the flat tyre. The beads stay locked to the flanges for cornering and steering control. The bead cannot be damaged at installation or tyre change. | R4 and R6 wheels with ATR |

Testing
Tested to Finabel, and well beyond it.
Tyron’s ATR runflats are tested against the internationally recognised Finabel standards for distance and speed, and for ballistic damage. In every test the ATR exceeded the requirement.

Why results vary
Results depend on speed, weight, tyre aspect ratio, age and make, road conditions, the cause of deflation, ambient temperature and another major factor, the vehicle’s suspension. Ask us for the test documents and we will help you judge them against your own vehicles and conditions.

For commercial and emergency fleets on standard wheels: a loaded 49-tonne truck loses a tyre at 60 and 80 km/h and stays under control, and a police explainer shows how the band works.
