Questions and answers
Plain answers from the people who fit it. Anything not covered, ask us on WhatsApp and a person replies.
Before you buy
What is Tyron and what does it actually do?
Tyron is a band fitted inside your wheel, under your normal tyre. If a tyre bursts, the band stops the flat tyre dropping into the rim and coming off, so you keep steering and brakes and can pull over. It is fitted once, and you never notice it until the day it matters. See how it works
What happens to the warranty if I sell the car?
It stays with the car. The warranty is tied to the VIN, so the new owner is covered for the remainder of the 10 years. If you would rather keep the set, it can be removed and fitted to your new car if the tyre and rim sizes are exactly the same; notify us and we update the warranty to the new VIN. How the certificate works
Does it stop punctures or blowouts?
No. Nothing can. Tyron is about the three seconds after a blowout, which is when most blowout crashes happen. It keeps the car controllable so a burst tyre is an inconvenience instead of an accident.
Does it fit my car?
Any car, SUV, MPV or van on normal tyres with 14 to 22 inch wheels. Very low-profile tyres (aspect ratio 40 or below) need a quick fitment check first; we do that for you when you request a quote. Check your car
I am on run-flat tyres. Do I need it?
Not while you are on run-flats. When they are due for replacement, most drivers switch to normal tyres with Tyron: softer ride, less noise, cheaper tyres for the life of the car, and the same protection in a blowout.
How much does it cost?
It depends on your rim size and whether you include the spare wheel. Tell us your car or tyre size and we reply on WhatsApp with your exact fitted price, within 24 hours. No obligation. Get my quote
Why is the price not shown on the website?
Because the fitted price depends on your tyre size, the band it needs and the workshop fitting fee. Rather than show a number that is wrong for half the cars on the road, we give you the exact figure for yours in one message. WhatsApp us now
Is it worth it on a small car?
A blowout does not care what you drive. A Myvi at 110 km/h with a burst front tyre is as hard to control as any other car, and it usually has a family in it. The set is bought once and refitted at each tyre change, so the cost is spread over years of driving. Get a quote for my car
Can I pay in instalments?
Payment is currently by bank transfer. Instalment plans and other payment methods are coming soon. Get a quote
Who already uses Tyron?
Emergency and government fleets have specified it since 1979. In Malaysia and Singapore that includes Ministry of Health ambulances, Fire and Rescue Department vehicles, Singapore Civil Defence Force and Singapore Police Force. Vehicles that cannot afford to lose control when a tyre goes. Fleet, Government and Defence
Fitting and tyre changes
Do I need it on all four wheels?
Yes, always. You cannot choose which tyre fails. Sets are sold for 4 wheels, or 5 if you want the spare protected too.
How long does fitting take?
Within one hour per vehicle. The tyres come off, the bands go in, the tyres go back on and every wheel is balanced. You drive away the same visit.
Where do I get it fitted?
At a Tyron certified workshop. When you request a quote we tell you the nearest one and arrange the date and time with you on WhatsApp. Request a quote
What happens when I change tyres?
The band is taken out and refitted by a certified workshop at each tyre change. There is no refit fee. You only pay the workshop’s normal tyre installation fee. The band itself is reused; you do not buy it again. Warranty terms
Can my usual tyre shop refit it?
Only if they are Tyron certified. A refit by an uncertified shop voids the warranty, because the band has to be seated correctly to do its job. We are adding workshops; ask us and we will tell you the nearest. Workshop owner? Get certified
Can I move the set to my next car?
Yes, if the new car has exactly the same tyre and rim size. A certified workshop removes and refits the set; notify us of the new VIN and the warranty continues. How the warranty works
Does it cover the spare wheel?
Yes, if you choose the 5-wheel set. A full-size spare takes a band like any other wheel.
My tyres are low-profile. Can it still be fitted?
Usually yes. Aspect ratio 45 and below uses a different band; 40 and below needs a fitment check because the wheel well is shallow. Enter your tyre size when you request a quote and we confirm before anything is booked. Check my tyre size
Safety and limits
Can I keep driving after a flat?
It gets you to the roadside under control. It is not a run-flat tyre and it does not let you carry on to the next town. Slow down, keep the wheel straight, pull over where it is safe, then change the tyre or call for help.
How far and how fast can I go on the flat tyre?
It is designed for short emergency distances, enough to get out of immediate danger or off a busy road. In TÜV testing the Multiband completed handling courses and slaloms for 3 km at 80 km/h followed by 3 km at 50 km/h on deflated tyres.
Does it affect ride, handling, comfort or fuel use?
Nothing changes. Ride, handling, comfort and fuel use are exactly as they are on a normal tyre. The band is lightweight and designed to improve safety without disrupting any other aspect of the vehicle.
Will it damage my rims or tyres?
No. The band mechanically locks the tyre beads to the outer edges of the rim. Even deflated, the tyre cannot slip off or flap; it collapses tightly against the band and forms a compressed cushion of rubber between the wheel and the road. The tyre is ruined from being driven flat, but it stays in one piece on the wheel. Because that cushion is trapped in place, the rim never touches the road, so alloy or steel wheels are protected from warping or grinding.
Does it work at highway speed?
Yes. The Tyron Multiband is approved to 250 km/h and independently tested by TÜV against international run-flat standards.
Does it affect my tyre pressure sensors (TPMS) or alignment?
No. You keep the TPMS your car came with. If your car has no TPMS, we sell a TPMS that attaches to the Multiband itself.
Does it void my car warranty or insurance?
No. It is fitted inside the wheel and changes nothing about the car. Tyron’s performance claims are backed by Lloyd’s of London global product liability insurance, which covers legal liability, property damage or bodily injury if the system were ever to fail mechanically within its operating guidelines during a blowout.
How long does it last?
The band is covered by a 10-year warranty with 1:1 product exchange. Warranty
Warranty and support
What warranty do I get?
A Tyron warranty certificate issued in your name to your chassis number on the day of installation; we record your VIN and contact details then. The warranty runs 10 years from the day of installation, with 1:1 product exchange. It is backed by Lloyd’s of London product liability insurance. How the certificate works
What voids the warranty?
Fitting or refitting by a workshop that is not Tyron certified, a band fitted to the wrong rim size, or moving the set to a different chassis number. Full terms
